Esperanza is simply explaining what she would do in the more fortunate's position. She doesn't like that way that the rich think of the less fortunate. She believes if she were in that position that she would be charitable and not deny someone shelter for the night. I doubt that she would follow through if the event that her finances would come in at a high rate. More often than not this situation comes up and a severe change in heart occurs. So then the less fortunate still are looked down on. I wouldn't trust her 100%.
